Hehe. I think we're such an endangered species that we flock together when the chances arise

Thanks for the positive comments on my own stuff. Since moving out of mainstream ps2 car-game development (previously known as game development) and into cellphone and pda stuff I've never been happier or wealthier, though 'wealthier' is a relative term!

I'm 35 now and started hacking around on a spectrum at about your age. If you stick with something that young people do, you never get old. At least that's what I keep telling the wife

Sound advice.

Incidentally, which game company did you work for before breaking out? :)

Re: the previous replies..

Thanks again for the kind comments about the game and nice job with the pocketpc work. I take it you're not keen on car games then :)

As for scenarios, i'll have to sound like a scratched record, I'm as keen as anyone to try and add more to the game and get stuff out there but unfortunately there are several hurdles we need to overcome.

We're also still waiting to hear how well it has done in Europe and to see how well it will do in the US. It isn't out there yet even though the GM was submitted before christmas. I haven't got an official release date but i anticipate it to be soon.

If i hear anything else i'll post it.

regards

I actually love car games, especially ones where you get to run down all the pedestrians/spectators!

I worked at a few companies before my own, namely Mirage Tech (no I didn't do rise of the robots), Attention to Detail, and various rebirths of Stainless Software and Vis Interactive.

My CV reads ok until around 6 years ago when it turns into a horrific catalogue of cancelled projects and belly-up companies which is why I got out. I'd be tempted to feel like it was my fault but we all know lots of people with a similar story to tell...

I serioulsy hope this game does well for you. It's a piece of class and deserves a lot of success. If it's reasonably well marketed it should clean up in the states..

I hope so, it is being released on budget over there which puzzles me a bit but i have been assured its the right thing to do. I can understand to a certain degree, i think a lot of sales can be hammered through the likes of walmart.
I think small publishers/developers are really up against it now, the bigger companies get bigger and the smaller ones are just barely making it through each year.
You've only got to walk into a GAME shop and watch how long a small title lasts at the front of the store, a week or two if you are lucky then its swamped with AAA products/pods and you're average punter won't find it.

I've lost count over the number of devs that went kaput in the last 6 months over here. Its a sad thing to see happen but in some ways i feel the industry is finally growing up and getting more professional about dev and business. This should ultimately help create better partnerships for getting good quality products out the door in a timely fashion.

regards

About my age? Are you talking to me? I aways thought being a games designer would be fun and I would enjoy it. I woudn't care if the job payed hardly nothing, if I enjoyed doin it, I wouldn't care. Like, who would wanna be a lawyer? Work your ass off so you can get a Mercedes Benz and a big house. Big deal!

And talking about running people down, that's one reason why GTA is so popular! It's hilarious when you knock a speeding granny off her scooter, and then watch her get up and look for a fight!

I think the reason the water is greyish is because it actually (incorrectly) shadows itself and so is darker.
