I have to agree, $19.99 is too cheap for such a good game. I would have expected $39.99 or maybe even $29.99. But $19.99, that is strange. There are games out there that are horrible, crash to the desktop, aren't finished, rushed out the door, etc. and they are twice as expensive as this game. Personally, I think the US marketing for this game has been kinda bad (can't speak for the UK). No real press releases, no game reviews on websites, etc. When I look in the game stores and see a game at such a low price, I usually skip over thinking it is from a new developer or won't be very good. Which in most cases is true (look at Las Vegas Tycoon, now that is a budget title and it sucks). Putting Vega$ in the same boat as Las Vegas Tycoon, come on!!!!

If this game isn't doing so well, I guess we won't be seeing many updates or add-ons. Sad, since this is such a good game.

I just noticed the first US website listing the availability of the game (yeah, yeah, I know...pimping the game! ):

Thanks for the link

Well funny you should speak of updates, we should have some on the official site this week - i thought they would of been up sooner but found out that bugg is snowed under with lots of stuff hence the delay. Fingers crossed they'll be up by friday.

As for the game not getting a mention in the US, well it's early days yet - will have to wait and see on that front. Also, I recall seeing a preview article in CGW for December's issue.

regards

Hi!

It seems to be selling slowly but steadily over here. I bought my copy on play.com and a couple of days later, it was out of stock. I first seen in it in HMV and it looked great. The box and name attracted me, so i thought i would look the net to find it cheaper.

In my town (Derry, N.Ireland), in most of the shops there's usually 1 or 2 copies on the shelf in the games shops, and i'm usually attracted to the box.

Do you have any idea how many copies you've sold? And, just out of curiosity, does the shops, empire interactive and Deep Red all have to get a share of the profit you make?

Yes that's my perception of how well it is selling too but then i've not been exposed to any sales figures.

I can't obviously comment on specific sales figures but with regards to who gets a share of profits, it usually boils down to retailer/distributer, then publisher and then developer.

regards

Hi!

Isn't the game out in America now? I know i isn't available in all shops to January. Do you think between now and the end of January you will get a lot more people visiting and becoming members in the forum?

Thanks!

Hi,

No the game isn't available yet in the US - the Gold Master got accepted by Take 2 yesterday so i'm guessing it will be sometime in january when they'll release it.

No idea on the number of people, alot of it will depend on exposure, word of mouth and how hard it is marketed over there.

regards

I am searching the web at the moment and am beginning to see one or two retailers in the US beginning to stock vega$ tycoon.

Has anyone actually seen it in the shops over there yet? I've heard nothing this end.

regards

Some full price games are really bad, and have bad reviews and stuff, and sometimes you get budget titles that have amazing scores and reviews. So really, you're getting a bargain if you buy this game in America.

By the way, if you can confirm that it is released in America, I can put it on the News on my fansite.

The gold master was sent out before christmas but i haven't heard from empire or globalstar when it will be on the shelves. I'll chase it up this end to see if i can find a date. It'd seem though it should be sometime soon given release dates provided by certain retailers.

Hey wasn't today supposed to be the day the game got released nationwide in the US?

If it is then I sure hope it does well, cos it's better then alot of the other crap that gets put on the store shelves.
