Can you let me know what the next level should be as I don't want to unlock everything - just to bypass this one.
I had another go and the same thing happened at the end of day 4 - all the people stopped coming to my lot - I tried looking to see if a competitor built a certain thing at this time but nothing stood out. The person that wins the challenge doesn't even have a casino on their lot.

Okay - that level was easy after trying the Convention one!!!!
I have tried going back to do it again and I am still having problems - I don't know what else to try as I seem to rake in the dosh but not make enough sales. When someone esle completes this one PLEASE fill me in on how you did it!!

I have the same issues, can get about 2500 sales or so before I get blasted. All the computer players get much more when they are far behind me by about 2000 or so. I go from making all kinds of money to going deep in the hole and my lot goes deserted. Has anyone passed it?

I have completed that level.
I started off with the smallest plot and built a medium casino (using the 'furnished' template from sandbox). When I got out of debt (not too long) I built a hotel, then all the Country and Western required things. Expanded, built car park and lots of other things (although I avoided the showgirls/topless revue, they seem to have a massive negative affect). I then bought the large plot and just built whatever I wanted whilst I cruised to victory (winning by about 2000 sales).
I am actually having a harder time with 'High Hopes'.

AllanR has a point. Remember when you put buildings down, and even upgrade them they will have an effect on who they appeal to. Some appeal lots, others don't appeal very much but more importantly, some upgrades may actually reduce the appeal of certain people types.
Take the bar and the music upgrade for example, certain music upgrades will appeal to one sort of people and not to others..

Okay, I am going to have another go at it!
Its strange as I finished High Hopes first time and was miles in front of the computer players - it must be the style we play the game.
I am not even sure what I did right for High Hopes - I started with a large hotel and medium casino (which I had laid out the template for in the sandbox). My casino was geared towards high rollers with a lot of tables set at the max bet range and it wasn't long before my horrendous debt from building it vanished! I kept all the "posh" stuff at one end and had a cockatil bar and a la carte resteraunt near the casino, but I haad a fast food joint, regular bar and soda bar the other side of my lot as they always seem to help out a lot at the start.

Yey I did the convention season level!
I think having a breaak from it helped - I am not sure what I did differently but I seemed to get a lot more visitors to the lot early on and it went from there. I didn't build the live music venue straight off - I spent the money on a lot of shops and eating stuff first which helped a lot. I didn't bother with the car park this time and started on the large lot, normally I start on the smaller ones and expand onto the larger one.
I can go onto all shook up now!

Gave it another shot and still failed, but I had a very strong start. It stopped at 2500 to the point where I got about 100 sales a day, down from 1000. This time I had medium casino, medium hotel, pool, music venue, bar, fast food joint. I had lots of stuff like themed paving, trees, lights, fountains, ect, and still they started to leave my place. I used the Medium Indian Casino template from one of the computer players from a previous mission, but it costs 75k and I never even got close to getting out of the hole. I think I may try the large lot too and give it a go. Should I even bother with a casino from the start?
