Hi

This game has got me so frustrated!  I was really looking forward to its release having played all Deep Reds other games, and it looks great!

It is really frustrating me (and this is the first time I have ever been stuck on a game!) as I can not complete the Convention Drive scenario.  I can do eveything except the 5000 sales - and I am not even close.

I have checked influences, I have large signs and other promotional stuff, and my double lot is packed full with stuff to do, (mainly aimed towards business men, I didn't want to generalise too much, but I start making a loss from when the Lord comes to town and then spiral out of control.  In desparation I tried making everything on my lot as cheap as possible and everything in my casino generous but I still don't get the sale - only about 2300 by the end of the scenario.  When I check the lot of the computer player that wins everytime one attempt I had virtually the same stuff plus more and still lost - she was making losses too.

Anyone got any advice??

Fear not, help is at hand, or will be tomorrow when i grill the guys who completed this level and find some answers for you..

Up until then i can only give you some basic advice but you may of tried this already..

Have you tried the big lot on the left instead of the 2 small lots to see if that helps the situation? and also have you tried catering for a slightly wider audience? It maybe that the number of business people in the world may not be sufficient to help reach your sales target.

If you click world view and then the people breakdown button you can see how many of each group are in the world and that may help you get an idea on what to supply.

Also there is a tendency sometimes to get a 'flywheel' effect on the levels, what i mean by this is that you gotta start quick with the right sort of objects and keep the momentum going otherwise its uphill all the way and it can race away from you. This doesn't happen all the time. People do have to walk quite a way across the world so its often worth picking areas near busstops and placing down carparks to help improve people delivery to your area.

Are you using lots of themed paving at all? This helps a bit too.

Hope this helps for now, will try and get more info tomorrow. Failing that, can always help and get you the next level unlocked very easily if you're banging your head on this one :).

regards

I just tried again - got just over 3000 sales!

This time I had all three lots!  I don't find making money a problem, my two casinos were bringing it in faster than I could spend it!  I only had the themed paving and two lots were totally full and the other large one was half full.  I checked my filters, shops and hotels together, casinos and noisy stuff together, and the smelly stuff separate still.  I had trees, fountains, large signs ... stuff for business, stuff for well everyone!  I had a balance over over 40k when the other person reached 5000 (like I said it was coming in quicker than I could spend it) - and I had everything she had plus more this time - and I have saved the game so I can take a screen shot and prove it!

Ok here is a reply i have..

"I don’t think there was any one special strategy: just build a lot of what people like, buy one small lot, build it up then merge it with the next lot along. Car parks are a good idea, as are bars, restaurants, fast food joints. Hint: pause the game at the outset, then build up a small casino. Unpause the game, and people will immediately be drawn to this new casino that’s just appeared. Save this template out and use it to build other, identical casinos across the world. For the country fans, you want souvenir and pawn shops, but keep them away from where you build your nightclubs and cocktail bars. Build one medium hotel and one small hotel if you can, in order to bring a broad mix of people types to your lot. Remember: things like loos and bins are essential, and you’ll also need to make your lot as pretty as possible."

Hope that helps

Hi

Still not managed it yet  - seriously I have never been this stumped by a game before, its getting silly now ... its still within its 10 day return period but I really do like the game.

By day 3 I had 2300 sales, but by day 7 or 8 when the 5000 target was met I only had 2800 - my double lot went from hyper popular to deserted.  I had a car park, themed paving, fast food joint, bar, resteraunt, nightclubs, med hotel and med casino - I went from +40k to - 111k in one day without buying anything.  My mechanics and electritions were working overtime as even when I played a new building it would come up broken within a few mins and my casino had a bad rep despite having everything, tons of scenery and lots of staff (I had used the 5 star template from sandbox, saved it with a new name and put it in my game, so I started on pause, built everything up, put the casino in last when I had only 10k left and went into debt but made it back by the end of day 2).  So why has my casino got a bad rep - it has no rubbish, no broken machines, is surrounded by pretty stuff and has generous comps and a good range for bets (everything is positive except the overall rep).

Its driving me insane! Has anyone else done this level?

Well i can tell you how to get to the next level for now without having to complete this one until i resolve what the issue is here, i believe the other guys have been through this level re: the reply i posted earlier but i'll try and get them to play through it again tomorrow to see if they run into similar problems.

Do you want to get to the next level now?

regards

Aggh - yes please put me out my misery!  I will do the level but need a break from it!

I just tried again and had similar problems - after day 4 my lot seems to be deserted no matter how much stuff I have on it.  Doing the country western part of the objective is fine, and I have done the business sales part too, although normally the 5000 sales part finishes me off before I reach that bit.  Even when I get to day 4 with 2500 sales and my nearest competitor has less than 1000 at the same point I just can't seem to get many sales after this, and end up with about 3000 at the end of the scenario.

I can't wait to get to the next one and have a break!

Ok no problems

*SPOILER*
Ok don't read this bit if you don't want to bypass levels.

Simply open up the folder where your game is installed

Open up the Player folder
Open up the default.lua in notepad or any texteditor

Next to each level there is anumber, it'll either be 0 or 1

1 means its available, 0 means its not been unlocked yet

Simply change the number on the level you want and the fire the game up again et voila.

*SPOILER*
