Being able to customize the hotels would have been a plus.  Maybe just laying out template rooms to be used in the hotel.  Like you layout a single and all of your "single" rooms look like that.  Whatever you put in there would increase the cost and upkeep of the room, but also how happy your guests would be and how much they'd be willing to pay.  Just like in real life.

It'd be good but it might be too time consuming to decide the layout of all your single rooms, then double rooms, then suites etc.

It may have been a good idea actually I also think the ability to paint and ad lights and change the exterior of hotel's and casino's for that matter.
